I am conducting research in the field of automatic speech recognition at the Interactive Systems Labs. I am especially interested in the field of acoustic modeling, but also am repeatedly working on designing and training complete continuous, large vocabulary speech recognition systems. One of my major research interests is the development of multilingual speech recognition systems, and the rapid development and deployment of recognition systems in new languages and domains as well as cost efficient development of speech recognizers for minority languages.
Currently I am coordinating the efforts of Universität Karlsruhe (TH) in the field of Automatic Speech Recognition in the project French state sponsored project Quaero.
For the European Integrated Project TC-STAR I was responsible for the development of an English recognition system for the European Parliament Plenary Sessions (EPPS) task. I was also the contact person for work package 2 at the Interactive Systems Lab.
In the project Computers in the Human Interaction Loop CHIL I was on the speech recognition team at Interactive Systems Lab.
I helped with the development of the ISL Chinese Broadcast News Transcription System for the Rich Transcription Fall 2004 (RT-04F) Benchmark Tests conducted by NIST.
I have been responsible for the development and coordination of the speech recognition systems for the Digital Olympics project at the Interactive Systems Labs. The system has been demonstrated at the ChiTec 2004 and at during the Language Technology Days at the FORUM Barcelona 2004.
For my Diplomarbeit I studied detectors for multilingual articulatory features and their integration into LVCSR systems.
In my Studienarbeit I have examined the automatic generation of pronunciation directories with the help of multilingual phoneme recognizer.
