FAME

Facilitating Agents for Multi-Cultural Exchange

The vision of the FAME project was to construct and intelligent agent to facilitate communication among people from different cultures who collaborate on solving a common problem. The FAME agent serves as an information butler by supporting multimodal interaction in a transparent way. He does not intervene in the conversation, but remains in the background to provide appropriate support.

FAME provided three services:

  • Facilitate human to human communication through multimodal interaction including vision, speech and object manipulation
  • Provide the appropriate information relevant to the context
  • Make possible the production and manipulation of information blending both electronic and physical representations.
